Volo's Student's Guide to

Wuxia

There are those who pass through Wuxia, wondering why it exists when there's already Kara-Tur and Rokugan to fill their pseudo-Oriental needs.  These same people never think twice about why Faerun, Greyhawk, Krynn, and Mystara all exist, when they're all pseudo-European.

What Wuxia gives us that Kara-Tur and Rokugan don't is simple.  Rokugan is about political machinations between powerful clans.  Kara-Tur is about mythical adventure and fantastic quasi-feudal heroics.  Wuxia?  Cheesy quests where you have to fight everybody along the way, usually with a grainy film quality and bad dubbing.

Notable inhabitants of Wuxia

Angry Master (human Ninja-12):  The leader of the Dojo Chiku ninja training facility in Homeland, who kidnapped catgirls from the nearby catfolk village (also called Homeland), and trained them to be ninjas, because catgirl ninjas are so very, very cool.

Atobo (catfolk Commoner-2):  The father of Niriki, one of Rei's friends from Homeland.

Drayno (godborn human Wu Jen-9):  Alleged God of Thunder, who aids people in their journeys of self-discovery.  He's actually a human-born avatar, but he won't tell you that

Ook (vanara Monk-11):  One of those mysterious martial artists who try to cross the narrow bridge at the same time you do when you're on a quest of self discovery, and who judges you (or beats the tar out of you) based on your reaction.  It's a living.

Master Sprinter (nezumi Monk-20):  One of Master Shou's close friends, and famed martial arts master.
