Sigil Prep Timeline

(Dates are given in SP standard time, which do not always coincide with dates in the Material Planes.  Don't try to match it up.  Just... don't.  You will fail.)

SP 1- The Year of the First Year:  Some noble families in the City of Sigil open a private Prep School, so scholarly youth can study the Maths (plural, because the multiverse was much more British back then), Philosophy, and General Studiousness.  It was a quiet, dignified school for nearly three-quarters of a Century.  Then, the adventurers came.

SP 13- The Year of the Fast Food Wars:  The Fast Food Wars.  It lasts for 25 years.

FIRST AGE

SP 71- The Year of Chainmail:  Warduke, chainmail wearing fighting man, begins teaching warcraft classes. He is later joined by Bigby, who teaches magic.

SP 74- The Year of Blue Boxes:  Bigby buys out the Prep School, and gears the curriculum for gifted youngsters who wish to go into adventuring. At first, only students from The Known World (later called Mystara, after other worlds become known), are admitted, though the school is in the most out of the way place you can think of. The Sigil Preparatory Academy becomes the Sigil Preparatory Academy for Rising Adventurers. Originally, only basic level classes are taught.  Bigby is the first Dean of Schools, assuming that position along with the Headmaster position of the prep school.

SP 75- The Year of Supplemental Material:  Blackmoor and Greyhawk natives are admitted to the school, because Bigby doesn’t entirely know where he’s from, and can’t leave out any of his possible homeplanes.

SP 77- The Year of Monster Manuals:  Bigby begins working on a University level curriculum.  Over the next three years, he perfects it.  Soon, this Advanced curriculum would attract many more students than the small-box Basic curriculum.

SP 78- The Year of Streamlined Rules:  The prep school side's curriculum is rewritten to make sense to people who aren't Warduke and Bigby.

SP 80- The Year of Deities & Demigods:  Sigil Prep begins accepting admissions from a number of minor material planes, including Olympia, Midgard, Heliopolis, Babylon, Sumeria, Lankhmar, Milnoboné, and Lovecraftia. Milnoboné and Lovecraftia are quickly denied admissions, for reasons that only Bigby (and possibly Elric and Cthulhu) knows.

SP 81- The Year of Red Boxes:  The Basic curriculum is rewritten (for the second time), and the Prep School also begins teaching Expert level courses.

SP 84- The Year of Big Brother:  Sigil Prep begins teaching Companion level courses. What this means, exactly, isn’t clear.

SP 85- The Year of Master Editions: Sigil Prep begins teaching Master level courses.  The University side begins teaching some Oriental-type courses.

SP 86- The Year of Immortality:  A number of Sigil Prep (prep school side) graduates go on to become Immortals. Eventually, it is determined that this doesn’t make sense, and the program is cancelled.

SP 87- The Year of New Core Worlds:  The Forgotten Realms and Krynn are opened up for admissions to Sigil Prep.  Within a year, Elminster has taken over as Dean of Schools from Bigby, who continues as headmaster of the prep school.

SP 88- They Year of Gridiron Origins:  Sigil and a few schools in Greyhawk's and Krynn's planes form the Interplanar Athletic Division, a governing body for organized athletics.  To accommodate their existence, they invent some sports.
The school begins accepting students from Kara-Tur.

SECOND AGE

SP 89- The Year of Second Edition:  The gods of Faerun are forced by their overdeity to live among mortals. This annoys current Dean of Schools, Elminster, so he rewrites the curriculum.
The school begins teaching Spelljamming classes, even though Sigil has no direct access to Wildspace. The program fails to really take off.

SP 90- The Year of Expansion Teams :  Students from Mystara’s Hollow World interior, and from the Demiplane of Dread, are admitted.
Schools from the Forgotten Realms are invited into the IAD..

SP 91- The Year of Dark Suns:  The prep school curriculum is rewritten once more.
Mystara is finally admitted into the IAD.
Students from Athas are accepted into Sigil Prep.

SP 92- The Year of a Bunch of Genies:  Students from Al-Qadim are accepted into Sigil Prep.
     Athas joins the Athletic Division.

SP 94- The Year of the Last Prep School Year:  The prep school curriculum undergoes its final rewrite before the secondary school program is cancelled entirely.  Afterwards, Sigil Prep is entirely University level courses, although it continues to be called "Preparatory Academy" out of tradition.
Shemeska the Marauder replaces Elminster as Dean of Administration. Rumor has it that the Lady of Pain is the new Dean of Schools, though no one has been able to verify (or deny) it. Shemeska immediately proceeds to make sweeping changes. Elminster retires from teaching, to spend more time on his passions: drinking, smoking, and loose goddesses.
While formerly restricted to mortal students from material planes, Sigil Prep is now open to students of all planes.

SP 97- The Year of Dread Demiplanes:  Ravenloft officially enters the Athletic Division.

SP 99- The Year of Wyrm's Council:  Io's Blood officially enters the Athletic Division (although students from here have been attending since '94).

THIRD AGE

SP 100- The Year of Rewriting the Curriculum Again:  After Vecna invades Sigil and dies (maybe), the curriculum is rewritten to reflect modern sensibilities.
The world of Khanduras is briefly admitted into the Conference, but the demon lord Diablo, who rules the place, pissed off the Lady. We don’t talk about Khanduras anymore.

SP 101- The Year of Five Rings:  Faerun's role in the IAD increases this year, as Waterdeep becomes the hosting site for the conference.  Meanwhile, Rokugan is accepted into the athletic conference.

SP 102- The Year of Epic Levels:  The IAD offices are moved from Waterdeep, to the more neutral interplanar city of Union, which is determined to be unbiased, and more powerful than you.

SP 103- The Year of the Ghostwalk Campaign:  Manifest is admitted into the Interplanar Athletics Division.
The curriculum is tweaked, but it’s not really a new edition. The Ranger program, notably, has more homework.

SP 104- The Year of Contest Winners:  Eberron is admitted into the IAD.

SP 105- The Year of The Campaign BeginsThe campaign begins.

SP 106- The Year of the Next YearThe campaign is currently in this year.

SP 107- The Year of Worlds and Monsters:  The Interplanar Athletics Division accepts "The World", a largely generic world who can't even be bothered to name themselves.

FOURTH AGE

SP 108- The Year of Here We Go Again:  After much consideration, Sigil Prep creates a fourth curriculum.
A hundred years passes on Faerun during Fall Semester, and the plane is readmitted into the IAD, even though nobody much realized they were out of it.
