Volo's Student's Guide to
Skara
A minor material plane from which Niazan and Kara Gleamingsheen originally hailed. It is fairly idyllic in many ways, though those that practice evil often practice the darkest sorts. Skara is a conglomeration of themed kingdoms, a "Points of Light" world before such things were vogue. The kingdoms are connected by a series of roads that are more or less protected from monsters and such, though there are plenty of monsters trying to lure people off said roads. Skara exists mainly to house certain oddball realms that don't really fit in the core worlds.
They worship the Exalted pantheon (BoED), though the Vile pantheon (BoVD) also have some influence. The good and evil aligned outer planes of the Great Wheel are part of their cosmology, but the Neutral (with no Good or Evil components) planes are not.
For reasons presently undetermined, people from Skara are more likely to break into musical numbers than elsewhere. On the other hand, there's a lot of musical numbers going on everywhere...
BASILSLAY, THE BASILISK KINGDOM
The hometown of Niazan. It was founded by a famous basilisk slayer, Eugene Tolazol, and there is an odd amount of pride in this. Such things as the Basilisk Inn, the Eye of the Basilisk Theatre, and Oltorar's Museum of Basilisk History are everywhere. The Capital has a large statue of Eugene and the basilisk in the courtyard.
Ironically, the place is virtually infested with Basilisks.
HIGHMANOR, THE SKY KINGDOM
The hometown of Kara, Highmanor is built entirely in the clouds, and reachable only by climbing the Highmanor mountains. It's inhabited mainly by dragons and giants, but there are certain cloud-adapted humans, elves, and gnomes as well.
FAIRCORRAL, THE SEASHELL KINGDOM
Faircorral is an undersea kingdom made of seashells. The people there are quite content, except for the ones who aren't.
Faircorral business
Expensive Willy's Surface Tours: Based in the undersea city of Faircorral, a place where undersea denizens can book travel to the surface.
Free Willy's Underwater Tours: On the shores of Faircorral, offers free undersea travel to the town of Faircorral, to boost tourism there.
Notable Inhabitants of Faircorral
Free Willy (darfellan Commoner-8): The proprietor of both Free Willy's Undersea Tours and Expensive Willy's Surface Tours in Faircorral, on the plane of Skara. Also sometimes known as Expensive Willy.
DALIMADISON, THE MUFFIN KINGDOM
Dalimadison is a xenophobic community built around a baked-goods based economy. Everyone bakes muffins, and are quite intolerant of outsiders, and those who don't care for muffins.
Notable Muffin inhabitants
Princess Helene (human Aristocrat-5/Bard-3): The princess of a world with an economy based on baking. She was kidnapped and imprisoned, and it was Akbar's atonement quest to face his fear of muffins, and rescue her. He never went. She was later "rescued" by Xizlqk and Vander, but it turned out the kidnaper was a copper dragon, and the pair were playing a very weak practical joke on the town. She has a bizarre fascination with metallic dragons, and will "trade up" at the first opportunity, skipping out on her copper companion to be with a stunned Kara, then dumping her later for a gold dragon. She has her eyes on Bahamut.
Bob (human Commoner-10): One of the Muffin Kingdon's numerous bakers.
Stone (human Fighter-9): Pompous jerk from the Muffin Kingdom.
Tedd Copper (young adult copper dragon): Practical joking dragon who lives just outside the Muffin Kingdom, in a cave beneath Yonder Hill. The poor villagers are unaware that copper dragons are good, and he enjoys pranking them with faked "evil dragon" antics.
Comments: Skara was a homebrew campaign by Niazan's player, vigorously retconned by me to serve my own twisted ends.
