Sanctuary for Awakened Animals
In Sigil, it's a featureless red wall, somewhere in Sigil East. In the wall is a crack, big enough for a small sized animal or so. Elsewhere, the portal may be different, almost always obscure and unobvious. Through the portal, is the demiplane known as the Sanctuary for Awakened Animals.
The Sanctuary is a smallish, verdant terrain, built around a large lake. Its size increases to match its population, its origin unknown. For years, it has been a home for animals awakened by Druids who think they're being clever, then left to their own devices after instinct has given way to the less useful gift of reason.
For the most part, it's rather idyllic, although several of the predatory types have gotten frustrated with the whole "Don't eat the deer" rule, and have formed a brotherhood apart from the established "civilization" of the other animals. That, and human intervention, have been its greatest trials. However, when danger rears its ugly head, they can always call on aid from the heroic pair of Blue and squirrel buddy, Teal.
Notable Inhabitants
Bimbi (awakened deer Ranger-3): A citizen of the Sanctuary of Awakened Animals. Bimbi's a ranger, on the look-out for hunters trying to invade the idyllic woodlands.
Hestor (awakened badger Archivist-10): The default leader of the Sanctuary of Awakened Animals. The most respected badger in the whole glen.
Magenta (awakened squirrel Psion (telepath)-8): A citizen of the Sanctuary of Awakened Animals, who has a crush on Teal.
Reynard (awakaned fox Rogue-6/Shadowdancer-6): A minion of the Keeper. Since the Keeper's defeat, he has been exiled from the Sanctuary of Awakened Animals, and has been arrested in Sigil for destroying red-colored walls in an attempt to find his way back.
Zerg (awakened wolf Fighter-10): A minion of the Keeper.
