Volo's Student's Guide to
Gothic Earth
So here's a world that actually had the nerve to advance to the Early Industrial age. This Victorian world has oddly named nations like "France" and "England" and "Switzerland", instead of more poetic names like "Silverymoon" or "Keoland" or "Flaenass".
Among the fledgling industry and heavy fog, the citizens of Gothic Earth are plagued by serial killers, vampires, and lycanthropy, all blamed on something they call "The Red Death". Because it takes the form of a mist, a few mistakenly believe this plane is part of the Demiplane of Dread. In fact, it has only a vague connection (i.e. branding).
Look out for guys named Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Dorian Grey, and Dr. Jeckyll. For some reason, you can't visit the place without meeting one of them at least. Seven hundred million people on the European continent alone, and you still meet the same old faces...
