Ila Truesteel
Full Name: Ila Truesteel
Nicknames: “Invisible Ila Truesteel”
Occupation: brat, very young Freshman student
Homeplane: Faerun; Cormyr
Known Relatives: Aran (father), Celia (mother), Mira (sister), Nareth,
Korwan (brothers), Bortell (uncle)
Background: The youngest daughter of Aran Truesteel, Captain of the
Purple Dragon Knights, Ila is also the least disciplined. Her father, a stern
officer in a mighty organization, isn’t the disciplinarian at home as he was on
the battlefield. Although oldest brother Nareth was also a wild child at Ila’s
age, Aran had no problem keeping the boys in check. And oldest daughter Mira was
always a proper young lady.
Aran simply can’t bring himself to punish his little
girl. Not in any serious way.
Ila isn’t a bad girl; not at all. But she has no fear
of authority, and no proper control over her impulses. She does a number of
minor (non-criminal) bad things (smoking, lying, skipping school by going to
Eberron). To get attention? To see if she can get away with it? Because she can?
Yes. Yes, and yes.
Although frequently left in Korwan’s care, Ila’s antics
(unlike, say, Roxy Jr’s), seldom put her in real
danger, so Korwan has tended to let her run. She’s going to do it anyway, so why
waste energy?
More recently, Ila earned a Child Genius scholarship to
Sigil Prep, and serves as resident High-School-Freshman-Aged Kid in College. She
lives with her brother’s ex-girlfriend Sera.
Appearance: Ila is just over five feet, with light brown hair. She wears
tomboyish clothing, and looks absolutely uncomfortable if forced into anything
resembling “dressing up”.
Role-playing Ila: As stated above, Ila is a brat, but not a bad kid.
She’s probably actually quite likeable to anyone who isn’t responsible for her
care. But if you’re the one keeping her out of trouble, you may need a hard
drink after.
Ila is a talented psionicist, but she tends to overrate
her power. She’s smart, and she knows it, and if there’s a way to exploit her
punishment, she’ll find it.
Recently, Ila has become obsessed with invisibility
(not as a manifestation of insecurity; if you think she’s insecure, you haven’t
met her). If anything, being invisible makes her more egotistical. She
will go to lengths (from whining to Daddy, to shoplifting) to acquire
invisibility items.
